Analysis Services Installation

Hi,

I have 2 drives in my server (C and D:\) However, I installed the Analysis Services, Integration Services, SQL Server 2005 in C:\. Will it have any impact if all my projects (Analysis Services, Integration Services) were in D:\ and my installation is in C:\? Or should I reinstall all to D:\. My D:\ has a higher space capacity. However, for my SQL Server Database, I will just port the database to D:\. I just wonder if it's just ok for the 2 projects which are Analysis Services and Integration Services.

Hi,

We have installed our SQL Servers on an S drive and the Data on a D drive, about 5 servers now. We haven't had any problems with this, not aware of any performance issues either. If space is an issue on the C drive, I would use the D drive. The SSAS database can get quite large and if you need to make backups of the files, you'll probably need more. You can try it quite easily with SSAS by changing the datadir properties of the server, if it doesn't work out, change it back.

Hope that helps

Matt
